  • I would paint the cabinets white, paint the wall behind the washer and dryer a bright color (or even stencil a pattern onto it), and swap out the handles on the cabinets. You could also put battery operated lights on the undersides of the cabinets.

That is a good idea - my husband isn't too keen on getting rid of the cabinets.

    Hi Krissy,

How about a shelf at the base of the twin cabinets? You could use it for more storage than you already have or put an attractive decoration there.

Or put a pretty picture in between the cabinets, but dio change out the door knobs. They have some beautiful floral ceramic ones at DIY stores.

No window, so paint it white. Apply stencil, border at the top. Find some cute laundry saying abdominal hand arounf. I took one,of my cabinets down and put up shelves. Whimsical will make your laundry days when you spend half of your day in and out of there, so much easier, or at least maybe you will laugh and lighten your heart. HAPPY DECORATING

Why is the dryer angled in the space, rather than sitting right up against the washer? The crevice in the centre, and the gaps around the two appliances are 'botomless pits' for lost socks and lint, and are wasted space that is next to impossible to keep clean.

If the hoses or vent are protruding, cut into the drywall so that the hoses lay as far into the back wall as possible. This should allow you to position the washer and dryer square with each other. Next build a basic frame support (see picture below). Purchase a length of laminate counter top and secure onto the frame from below. Laminate counter tops come in standard lengths that can easily be cut to fit the wall-to-wall width of your space. Edge pieces should compensate for uneven walls.

Now you will have a functioning folding area with two corners, and the entire surface on top of the two appliances will be fully usable.

Butcher block countertop on top of washer and dryer. Remove that piece between the cabinets and install two shelves between the cabinets. Paint walls, cabinets, and shelves white because it is in an enclosed windowless area.
