Mini Wreath Christmas Ornaments

Do you start your Christmas gifts and ornaments in July too? Well I don't always but every year soon realize that I should have. Every month I participate in a Craft Room De-Stash Challenge and this month it gave me the best opportunity to use up my craft supplies and start on those Christmas ornaments. I made a couple of miniature wreaths in about an hour.

The whole project started out with some leftover mason jar lids and rings that I had on the shelf in my craft room and some green variegated yarn.

The first thing I did was to loop a string of yarn around the ring to create the ornament hanger.

Then I cut a long string of yarn to wrap around the entire ring. I attached it using hot glue but to keep from burning my fingers I used a chop stick to push the end of the yarn in to the hot glue.

After that it is just a matter of wrapping the string of yarn around the ring. Every few loops I would apply another bead of hot glue to keep the yarn in place.

This is what it looks like when it is completed wrapped in yarn. I also used white yarn for a second ornament.

The ornament is not complete yet. I took a trip outside to my garden and snipped some small sprigs off of my boxwood bushes to finish up the wreaths. While i was searching for items to make the wreaths, I also came across some red jingle bells in my stash. These combined with the cuttings from the boxwood completed the look of my mini wreaths.

I made a third mini wreath by using the hot glue to attache the sprigs of boxwood to another mason jar lid ring. Thankfully boxwood dries out very well so these will still be good at Christmas to hang on the tree.
