I found this cute little bench at Goodwill & decided to give it a quick make over, to better suit my taste & needs. The ugly dated fabric & chipped paint just wasn't my taste & I needed something that would be water proof. I had some scraps of vinyl laying around, so I decided to piece that together for the top. It's not perfect, but it suits my needs just fine.

Here is the bench in it's original state. Blah boring & not in good shape. I also had to take it apart to do some repairs. It wasn't very stable. So I needed remove the top regardless.

I love getting paint samples- they are great for projects like this. I had got it for another project & had plenty left over to do something small like this. It took 2 coats with a small chip brush.

As you can see here- it can out really nicely!

I'm using a staple gun to attach the vinyl to the bench top. If you've ever recovered anything with vinyl- just wrap it like a package. Start on one corner & work around. It's super easy & make sure you stretch it. But sadly I didn't have enough to cover the entire piece. so I had to frankenstein some smaller pieces in a bit.

That's where this stuff comes in. I used it to seal my edges & glue down the pieces on the top. This stuff is a miracle on a variety of fabrics from leather to silk. I buy it in the large size, since I use it on just about everything. it will seal a small thread to an entire seam. This stuff is literally a miracle. I use it on a ton of crafts!

Here is the finished top before I attached it. You can see the seams, but i don't mind it.

& here is the entire finished piece.
