How do I get rid of chipmunks/ mice in my wood chip areas?

I have tried a trap to catch, and worked, but I hate to get dead off trap. So was looking for another way, but not with moth balls either, those stink! I do have a dog also.

Chipmunks love hiding places such as your wood chip areas. Try spraying garlic spray or putrescent egg spray or castor bean oil over all the wood chips. Plant castor bean plants next year, in this area, if it gets enough sun.

    That’s a tough one.

Except putting th chips Ina barrel or container you can close it’s tough because they live this bedding stuff.

Can you cage the chips in with small chicken wire type fencing if it’s a large area?

Not sure why you have this but sounds like those little buggers will be around or make you creative.

Yes, I will try the castor bean oil spray from prior response.

But those chipmunks do get me to my last point!

Try planting mint and lavender near/around the area.

Thank you, I know a neighbor had lavender, but she took it out and they all still hang around. Will have to try some mint.

Excellent ideas, thanks for help! I will definitely try these.
