Can I lay a fresh cement layer to my old and broken cement patio?

I have a 12 x 12 cement patio that has broken in a few places. Is it possible to re-cement another layer OR perhaps just layer pea gravel? Thank you in advance

Quickcrete makes a product to re skim a concrete patio. If you have large cracks you will have to buy the concrete caulk to fix them, then reskim.
you chip out the cracks, fill them and put on a skim coat.
It depends, on if the concrete is cracked all the way through or just the "Top cap" is popped loose. If the cracks are all the way through, then you might have some compaction issues. this would require removing and re-compacting or a 3 inch cap with wire or rebar. If it's just the cap, use a pressure washer and blow all the loose stuff off and use a bonding agent, get that where you buy topcap mix and put a cap on it. you can spread the cap mix with a push broom
If it's just a corner, you coud break it up and remove it and bag mix the re pour
