How much spray paint?

Hi, I’d like to spray paint my dining room chairs with chalk paint and I’m wondering how many cans I’ll need per chair. The chairs are simple, non-ornate wooden chairs, and there are 8 of them. thanks!

I haven’t used spray chalk paint, so I don’t know if that will make a difference. If you are making a significant color change, it will be worth your while to spray gray primer first. You may be able to get three chairs from a can of primer and a can of paint. If you are painting outdoors, even the slightest breeze will blow away quite a bit of your paint, and it won’t go as far. It all depends on how inconvenient it will be to run out of paint, but I usually get twice as much as I think I’ll need.

I always buy more paint then I think I'll need! I recently painted patio chairs that were about the size of my dining chairs and I was able to paint about 1 1/2 chairs per can of paint. I also highly recommend getting a spray paint comfort grip, it really makes spray painting so much easier!

For good coverage I would say one per can per chair if you don’t use one return it

I would discourage the use of spray paint for chairs. It is very easy to paint chairs and much less expensive to just buy a quart of paint.

Thanks all! I think I’m going to go with @Emily’s suggestion!
