New look for my fireplace?

Hello, fellow Hometalkers! We have started remodeling in many parts of our home that we purchased 4 years ago. My biggest dilemma right now is the fireplace. With 24’ ceilings, we need cost conscious ideas to hopefully “cover up” this ugly bathroom floor tile the previous homeowner used. It would be an immense project to remove all this tile - and not cost-effective. I love the shiplap look and also stacked stone. Maybe 3-D printed wallpaper? Maybe run firring strips to attach shiplap to? We need your help with this one!!

Hi, Reduce the look of your ceiling by adding a picture rail about 18" - 2' above your door height. Then treat the above as ceiling and paint and the bottom half as room and decorate with Paper or Waney board or Cladding etc.to your taste........

Skipping the wainscoting and just bringing the ceiling color down the walls will trick the eye into seeing a lower ceiling.😊

IF the tile is in great shape. Not loose or crack grout. I would use thin wood planking glued on to the tile. You can not nail it. Another alternative is the floating wood flooring if not too heavy. I think the real cheap kind are lighter who cares you are not walking on it. The floating interlock flooring you will have to glue the first couple and a piece every so many. That will stay in place better and you can do it faster. The other thin wood or fake wood planking will take some care when doing it to make sure the pieces are not going to break free before the glue can hold them. By it being horizontal will decrease that very tall look

It would look beautiful if you painted it all one flat colour (white/beige or whatever color you like) then do a mosaic or stencil over it, paint an outdoor image, trees, water, firlds/grass/hills, some animals like birds, deer, squirrels etc

Also another way that's VERY cost effective way is contact paper! There's some beautiful choices like marble wood designs etc!

Okay, it looks as if you have separate projects. One, the fireplace ... toe, the bathroom floor and maybe the walls too???

She is not talking about a bathroom, she is referring to th tile that was installed above the fireplace all the way to the ceiling.

Here are some ideas I found for you. Of course, your project is more daunting because of the height.

Thank you for the link. We have to be careful about not getting anything with too much weight on top of an already heavy amount of tiles. Some good ideas here - thank you!
