Repair my cedar fence?

The boards on my new fence are warping and popping loose from the metal frame. Is it the screws or bad boards?

Try screwing back into place. May be roots under the surface that are displacing boards

Our fence did that last year. We just screwed it back in place, make sure you use deck screws or something that can withstand outdoors. Ask at Lowes contractor counter or someone in the hardware department.

actually NOT really much you CAN do about this, OTHER than replace the warped boards. You certainly can add new screws and this will work for a while. In the end, all of the "old talk" about this wood lasting forever is a lot of hooey. Just re-screw and be thankful that the fence remains upright All this type fence structure is good for is a little privacy. Easy to look through the spaces between the boards. Part of mine, erected 11 years ago, is on the ground.

The holes in the metal frame have probably been enlarged as the boards expand and contract with the weather. You may want to drill completely through the board and frame, then reattach each piece as it comes undone with a longbolt and nut. Use washers between the bolt head and wood, and before installing the nut.

use screws made for metal, you may have to use some wood glue to build up around the screw.

I have seen metal strips placed at top of fence to prevent warping. No idea where the strips were obtained.
