Here is another great find. This china cabinet was left alone an abandoned in an old warehouse. The owner was looking to unload some items. Lucky me!
The china cabinet it all one piece, solid wood, narrow with glass doors. If you are a wood purist, then you should probably look away.
The china cabinet it sanded, cleaned, taped and prepped. The reason for taping the glass is because the glass is fixed in place and I don't want to risk breaking the glass to remove it.
The china cabinet is painted on the outside only in a custom mixed charcoal gray. You can find great quality furniture paint HERE. After the first coat of paint, the surface is lightly sanded and a second coat applied.
You can see here how the glass is secured with wooden strips.
The raised details on the china cabinet are also lightly distressed, but not overly done.
The inside of the china cabinet is left in its original condition for slight contrast. The interior wood and shelves are wiped clean. And the original hardware is put back on. Was the paint color you used Hurricane Gray by Dixie Belle? Gorgeous project!

Maybe I didn’t read this right, but why does the cabinet look so dark? It doesn’t look gray at all. What did I miss?

I noticed you did not use a primer before painting. You used a dark color, would I need to prime if I was using a lighter paint color. Your project is beautiful andd I would like to paint mine a cream color.

I have the almost identical piece !! It belonged to

my grandmother. The original color was black, my husband redid it and made it the stained wood of the ‘60’s and ‘70’s era. Glad to see how beautiful your project turned out ! You have done a great job and I hope I can do my cabinet over… maybe a winter project ! Thank you for sharing !
