Once the plants have produced all they can, they are done. Try planting some more right now and you will have some by the middle of September. Mine usually dry out this time of year, I live in VA also. I always plant a second crop, don't get as many as the first one, but enough to satisfy. We have had a lot of rain this summer which has put a damper on my garden. Cukes were the only thing that produced. I have mine growing up a piece of fencing.

Thank you. I had MANY cukes, and HUGE ones, though traveled a LOT this summer and I am not sure if the heat or potentially a lack of water (but Weather online showed rainstorms, so I was hoping they were getting the water.) ** I also planted new seeds for the fun of it and the Cherry Tomato seeds are starting to grow. ** ALSO said earlier today, I think my new plan is plant initial seeds in April, then in June a new set so as the initial set starts to wilter, the new set is good!

I hope it helps. I know how frustrating it can be. My cucumbers are struggling this year too. Good luck!

so the garden looked like THIS before I left, and we plucked about 10sh, with the largest in the pic with the Gallon Milk Jug! I'm wondering if between me spraying the leaves and while I was gone, a LACK of water could have destroyed them.. EVEN my Tomatoes that do VERY well also, looks like they died..... ONLY the Cherry Tomatoes all the way to the right and the Peppers all the way to the left are are doing well now. (Cherry Tomatoes and Peppers are planted in storage bins!)
