Should flooring be one color thru out the house ?

I think that is a real personal preference. I like it best that way but some don't. I like the uniformity of it. Then I split up the house with area rugs in different rooms

I personally think so, but of course it's what personally pleases you. I also suspect the cost would be less if buying one color in bulk, enough to do the whole house.

I think so. you can always use throw rugs or orientals to change up the color a bit.

I think it is up to the persons personal preference. I have hardwood in my living room, dining room, hallway and two bedrooms on our main floor, the remaining three floors are tile, one ceramic wood look tile. The living room, dining room and hallway are the same, but the bedrooms are slightly lighter in color and they look fine. The kitchen and library/backroom tiles are just about the same color as the surrounding hardwood and go together really well, just easier to care for than hardwood. Go with the look you would prefer, you are the one that has to live with the flooring you decide you like. If you go with hardwood or laminate, think twice about using it in the kitchen or bathroom due to issues with water and a lot of dampness (spills, etc.).

Only if that's what you want; personally, I like halls with real light colored floors so the overhead light reflects off it and makes the halls brighter. I prefer medium colored wood floors in the living room, carpet in the bedrooms a color to coordinate with the color of the walls, and the kitchen, dining room, and bathrooms a light, designed vinyl so they can be mopped. To each her/his own; it's whatever you like.
