See how Vintage Headboards transformed this old door into a one of a kind beauty for the bedroom.
Queen size bed The project starts with finding these gems - 5 panel doors have become very popular to use to make headboards. We were lucky to find a 5 panel door that had panels narrow enough to use for a Queen Size bed.

We start by measuring the width of the boards that separate the panels on each end of the door. Next we determine how much of the door we are going to trim off to make it work for a Queen Size bed.
Now that the door is trimmed to size we need to determine how we are going to finish it out. Our Customer wanted to have some paint on the door while also exposing the bare wood underneath. Sometimes we are lucky enough to find doors with just the right amount of distressing. Often times we will need to coax it along to arrive at that right balance desired by our Customers.

In this case we scraped to first remove the loose paint then we started sandblasting the door. We finished with sanding using a random orbital sander and hand sanding.

Using a compressor we blew off the dust then proceeded to apply multiple layers of a water-based poly to seal the door. On the back side we also seal it.
Side skirts, legs and crown molding shelf are attached. The last step is color matching one of the colors found on the front of the door so visually it all comes together.

Each headboard we make like this will all be one of a kinds which is very appealing to our Customers.
