One of my thrift shopping ninja hacks is to shop for pieces and parts.

I love putting the unexpected together to come up with something new. So when I landed a couple of separate pieces on one of my latest jaunts, that's exactly what I did with them.
I found a silver candle holder and basket - in two different areas of a thrift shop.

Both were is great shape and totally meant to be together. Don't you think?
After gluing them together with construction adhesive, I sprayed them with silver glitter paint.

Other than the glitter, it wasn't a drastic change. But it did pull them together and make them look more like the team I knew they should be.

And glitter paint...well, it just makes me happy.
For a while I thought about using it as a craft room storage piece, but then decided I'd rather go fun than practical.

I found these pretty pink peonies and dahlias at The Dollar Tree - along with the floral foam. I adore pink and silver together!
After trimming the stems and pushing them into the foam, I dropped the arrangement in the top of the basket and - voila - a glittery silver basket brimming with pink petals.

Functionality can wait for the next project. I'm enjoying my little spot of pretty with this one!
I love finding the plain and ordinary at thrift shops and turning them into something special - and I love sharing those projects too.
