Any ideas for my bathroom vanity?

Hi. I'm redoing my bathroom. I want to get an old dresser for the vanity and put a sink on top, not built in to the dresser. I would like for it to look old if it wasn't already. I'm using a cast iron claw foot bath tub with the over head oval shower appliance. Any ideas?

I am not sure what your question is! Seems like you already have a good plan! You can look for old dressers in secondhand stores, garage sales, craigslist, repurposed stores. Menards, Lowes, Home Depot has a variety of sinks that fit on top of vanities along with the plumbing fixtures you would need. Cruise the thrift/antique stores in your area, you may find something that you like. You could also use an old bucket as a sink, mounted on top of the dresser.
Check out listings for old dressers online and in the paper. There are usually Freecycle groups, yard sales, etc. Vessel sinks are available at Home Depot, Lowe's and many other places. Paint (if that's the look you want) and seal it to protect the wood of the dresser. Tons of repurposed projects out there, like these:

Hi Tracy. Sounds lovely. Just be aware of height where the basin is concerned. You want it between 32 and 34 inches at the basin rim. That means you may need to trim the legs on the furniture piece. So, look for pieces that can be trimmed to a height of 28 to 30 inches (depending on your basin height). Fortunately for you, true antique furniture was made shorter, so it shouldn't be that hard to find one. To insert the plumbing I suggest using the drawer fronts, but cutting out the center of the drawers thus making two small boxes attached to the front. Using flex pvc drain pipes will also help working around the piece. Happy DIY'ing!
I have a friend who did this and it's absolutely gorgeous. If you use a vessel sink, it replicates the old pitcher and bowl sinks of old. Make sure you know exactly what fixtures you want to use, sink, faucet, drain and supply lines, so you can make a template for the holes you need.
You will still need to put the pipes inside the dresser, so you will lose a little storage space, but it should work fine. Are you going to leave the dresser the way it is, or are you going to put a surface on top of the dresser. If you are leaving the top wood, make sure you use something to help with water damage, like perhaps a marine polyurethane made for damp situations, a few coats would help the dresser finish be more durable, too.
