Best ways to shade my pool?

I lack the ability to use sun shades (all the rage), as I have only one side to attach them. The other side is turf and a brick wall. I'm worried a monsoon will set those sun shades sailing and tear out an anchor. Any alternate ideas? The water is getting too warm. Also, best way to anchor screws onto a brick wall?
Ever see those portable planter boxes with trellis attached. you could place them in attractive places around the pool and attach canvas or shade sails to them the weight of the soil or whatever you fill them with (like a cooler with drinks and ice) would stabilize them.

www.ebay.com/gds/how-to-attach-a-shade-sail-to-brick is a very good article explaining when and how to use shade sails. You other alternative would be to investigate having holes bored into the pool's concrete edging, with heavy duty poles, to install a fabric or canvas sliding "roof", on cables.
If your main concern is water temperature. They make a chemical reflector that coats the top of the water to reflect the light and keep the chemicals from evaporating to fast. It also causes the temperature to go up or down depending on which additive you buy.
Also, consider that if you add a permanent shade, you shorten the season for your pool by making it cooler. Have you tried floating reflectors to put in the pool on sunny hot days and leave out on overcast days and at the beginning and end of the season. Or, you might consider a retractable awning or pool cover.
We used 4 5-gallon buckets, which we floated in the pool. We took an easy up, and placed one leg in each bucket - voila! Floating shade! We have also added ice to the buckets, along with beverages for dual purposing!

Hi Laura, what a beautiful pool. Here's a video that may help. Also, I've seen triangular shades that overlap each other slightly. The key is the anchoring as you mentioned. with heavy-duty eyelets, etc. Maybe have a pro take a look and give you a bid, then diy it if you can.
