Salt or boiling water or use the oil when you next service your vehicle.

  • Hi Kristi - This is the most effective DIY weed killer that we've ever used. It was even featured on Hometalk. Hope it helps. Good luck! Hugs, Holly

most any DIY product will have to be reapplied as soon as you see new growth; the Salt/Vinegar/Soap isn't absorbed into the roots thru the leaves -- it only kills the 'green stuff; but ... repeated use will eventually rob the root system of that weed of the nutrients supplied by the leaves and it will eventually 'starve' ... but you've spent a LOT of $ and TIME when a properly applied commercial product will kill the entire plant -- roots and all!

Hi Kristi, I don't want to come across as a snot, but the best DIY weed killer is simply pulling the weeds with your hands. If you're talking about weeds in a garden, apply a heavy layer of mulch to keep the weeds down. Good luck!
