I live in a very old mobile home..The weather has been raining and humid for weeks. Every room has this musty almost mold like smell. Forget air freshners I need something natural because of my Tea Cup Chi. I don't have any leaks anywhere the windows are open and ceiling fans going. It's also very hot. Any ideas? Thanks

Perhaps painting all the walls would help.

  • Please send all your rain out west! We desperately need it! How about a high velocity floor fan, a dehumidifier and good old charcoal?

Damp Rid comes in all sizes depending on your room size. We use it in the basement and it works great.

It is the accumilating moisture that is causing the musty smell. Purchase a dehumidifier in a size recommended for the sq ft of your mobile home. These are very efficient at removing excess moisture and the odour, even in a concrete basement closed storage area.

Spend a little more and get one that has an attachment to screw on a piece of garden type hose. This feature is called a continuous drain. Run the hose into your drain hole, tub or sink drain, so that the dehumidifier drains the water all the time when it is on.

With this style not only do you never have to be bothered with continually dumping out the reservoir, but you never have to worry about it overflowing.

The dehumidifier and Damp Rid are great suggestions for eliminating musty air, but you really should have the home checked for mold b/c simply masking the smell will not eliminate the problem. Black mold can cause you and your family very severe health issues if left unchecked and believe me, it will end up costing much more in the long run than it will to have it checked by a professional now.
