This is the before pic, the china cabinet was a $40 yard sale find. The table and chairs I have had for ten years and used to be my kitchen set.

So where is a blog or instructions or anything about what you did to the furniture? Besides painting and distressing, you did some stenciling too. Did I miss something? Because it's exactly what I've been wanting to do to a table I built and have been afraid to tackle it. I made when I was in my 20's, so it's important to me. Thanks.

There was no blog, it was just me making it up. I just used black chalk paint,, then I stenciled it, then clear wac, then sand to distress, clear wax again, and them dark wax if you want to.

Also, if you look close I tried to make the table top, and crown molding, and surface top of the cabinet look a bit different, i sanders the chalk paint so a light hint of wood grain showed through. Then I put a layer of gel stain and wiped it off to give it a contrast.

I wish there had been some advice because I'm new to all of these chalk paints and waxes. Maybe Home Depot can help me out. It all looks great! What happened to the first rug? It was very pretty.
