Remodeling your kitchen on a budget? Learn how to install a Faux Brick Backsplash. This budget-friendly DIY project will transform your kitchen without breaking the bank.

The kitchen in our new home had an outdated 80s-style laminate backsplash. We wanted a lighter, brighter, modern cottage style kitchen (on a budget).

To open up the kitchen, we removed the upper cabinets and covered the entire upper wall with brick hardwood panels. This same solution works for a typical backsplash, which would be located between the countertop and upper cabinets.

The brick hardwood panels will need a coat of primer and 1-2 coats of paint.

Once dry, we found it easiest to work one panel at a time, starting from one end of the counters and working toward the opposite end.

Make sure to measure for any obstructions, such as light switches, outlets, windows, etc. and cut the openings in the brick panels with a jigsaw.

Once cut, attach the backsplash with construction adhesive (and finishing nails, if applicable). The faux brick can cover a wall or your existing backsplash.

The new faux brick backsplash has made our kitchen bright, light, open and modern! Plus, it cost less than $150 for over 100 sq ft of backsplash -- so it wasn't too hard on our kitchen renovation budget.
