I would recommend it. Stick tile should just pop out. Then you can start with a clean slate.

You can put a floating floor over a stick on vinyl tile. You can only have one layer of flooring to put a floating floor over--so if the vinyl stick on tile is the only layer of flooring you should be OK. Check out your doorways to see how you will transition from one room to the next if you are meeting some carpet or other flooring and make sure your door can close with another layer of flooring. It is always better to remove the flooring before you put on new flooring but you can float a floor over one layer of vinyl tiles or one layer of sheet vinyl linoleum. Sometimes vinyl tiles will pull up easily if you heat them with a hot hair dryer. I did put a layer of vinyl tiles over one layer of solid sheet vinyl linoleum in my kitchen and I had to use an adhesive primer first before I could stick on the new vinyl tiles. They were the vinyl tiles that you could grout and I grouted when I was done. It has been 6 years and I have had no issues. Whoever had stuck that linoleum on in my kitchen had done it to stay forever--it was impossible to remove and the subfloor was under cabinets so rather than do all the work to remove and replace the subfloor with the linoleum on it I did put the vinyl tile over the linoleum--knowing that when I change it again it will all have to come out. THAT will not be a DIY project I do myself!!
