How hard is it to do a subway tile backsplash?
I was gifted with 7 boxes of ceramic subway tile and am attempting to do my kitchen backsplash . I have zero experience. Can I adhere the tiles directly onto the wall? What is an easy medium to attach them with?

Lucky you! You already have free materials. Here's a link showing how to do it. It is more involved because she had to remove existing tile so you're already ahead of the game. She shows a supply list and also cutting out old drywall due to damaging it as she removed the old tile, so evidently you can apply your tiles over drywall. I hope the link helps you gain confidence that you, too, can create your very own backsplash! I hope you shae your results with us.

Hi PDTMS
Click on this link for a very comprehensive article that contains a video, step-by-step directions and a video transcript to help you learn all of the steps. Be sure you measure your area to make sure you have enough tile to cover it. It's most likely that you will, but it's always best to measure to make sure. Best of success with your project!

It's not necessarily hard, per se. Subway tiles are very time-consuming to install just because it's small piece after small piece but on the plus side, it's easier to trim a smaller piece of tile to fit around things.
If you have zero experience with this, see if you can rent the saw and do a lot of test runs on scrap wood to make sure you've got a handle on it before hitting the real thing.
Use ceramic tile adhesive and grout and pick up some spacers too along with tiling tools, or get a tiler to do it for you.
