Hi Kate, I think they will do well as after looking them up they are rated to grow in your area. To be absolutely sure though I would contact a local garden center in your area.
Hi Kate,
Did you know that milkweed needs to go through cold stratification before it can germinate? I didn't even know what that was until I read this article. It gives specific directions for germinating milkweed seeds. False Indigo roots can grow 12 feet deep and 3-4 feet wide so container gardening is difficult. They need about 3 years before they flower and often they won't flower until they are put into the ground. They also need a dormant season in order to bloom so they should grow in Zone 5 if they in a large enough container or in a garden. Wishing you success!
