Can aspen trees be transplanted?

    Hi Laurie, I think any plant or tree can definitely be moved and transplanted. Wait until either late fall or early spring and when you go to remove the tree from the ground make sure you are well away from it. The more dirt and excess you can take the better around where the roots are. Of course transplanting is not always a sure thing.

    Laurie, aspen trees are really just branches. Under the ground, there's a trunk that connects all the visible trees. The root system is under that. They do not grow like most trees.

      Laurie, sure, I understand. You can transplant one. It is recommended to do the separation from the "mother tree" before they leaf out. My exp and what I've observed is that you increase your chances of success by transplanting multiples together. Most of the time when I see a lone aspen growing, it's not really thriving.
