How to paint lamnate?

Chalk paint works well on laminate furniture. I've had the best luck starting with a primer coat before the chalk paint. You can make your own chalk paint using calcium carbonate powder mixed with any latex paint - in any color. Here is the recipe:

To make one cup of DIY chalk paint:

1. Add one cup of paint to a container.
2. In a separate container, dissolve 4 tbsp calcium carbonate in just enough water to dissolve the powder to a smooth consistency (like ranch dressing).
3. Stir it into the paint.

Once the chalk paint is dry you will want to seal it with a water based sealer. Varathane crystal floor sealer is very strong and can be used on just about anything chalk painted.
