I bought some pillow cases from the Dollar Store..... put the case over the blade (blade inside the case) and carefully pull them off. It dusts the blade and keeps all the dust inside the pillow case. Then just throw them in the washer. Good luck.

I vacuum mine with a vacuum hose and brush attachment, then wipe them down once a month with Old English furniture polish (mine are wooden)

It sort of depends on the type of dust you're finding on them. My kitchen ceiling fan has very large white wooden blades, and because of the heat and steam in the kitchen, a regular duster won't work. I use an old white washcloth, dip it in hot water to which I have added a small amount of bleach, and wipe them down in this order, top of the blades, rinse the rag, metal brackets holding the blades , rinse, blade edges, rinse and then the whole blade starting with the visible downward facing part of the blade working around to catch both edges one more time. It sounds time consuming, but it really isn't, and my fan always looks like new. For my wooden bladed fans in other rooms (with out the steam and grease of the kitchen) I bought myself a telescoping microfiber duster. Its a more environmentally (and economically) friendly version of the disposable dusters that need constant replacement. These dusters cost only a few dollars, last forever, and telescope high enough to reach the top of the bookcases, the ceiling fans, the tops of paintings, etc. I can dust an entire room in a few minutes, then take the duster outside (or slip it inside an old tee shirt or pillow case) and knock the dust out for the next room

I use warm water and Clorox cleanup and keep rinsing the cloth

If you clean the fan blades regularly, a normal Swiffer duster should work just fine. I clean mine before I vacuum, but the dust just wipes off.
