How do I paint the cabinets in my bathroom & kitchen? Is there a special kind of paint to use because of the humidity caused by bathing, dishwashing, & cooking?

Hi Mae, my mom and I painted out her kitchen cabinets using the following steps. We removed the doors and drawers and clean everything thoroughly. Then we light hand sanded all surfaces. Then we used a Kilz acrylic primer (two coats) and then a basic acrylic paint (also two coats) and then we put on three coats of a poly acrylic sealer in satin. It was time consuming but we were covering dark wood with white. Three years later and they still look awesome!
Use a gloss or semi gloss for areas with water. They are easier to clean as well.
I think the easiest way to do it, is go to your local paint store and ask them what kind of paint you would need. Now there are paints with the primer already in it, and no need to buy extra paint. I have found my local paint stores are very helpful and are willing to give you the advice you need to do a fantastic remodel.
