If it is a load bearing wall, you will need to install a heavy beam to keep the house from caving in. Safest bet, get a contractor.

You might want to hire a licensed builder in stead of a structural engineer, or get free estimates for doing the wall work done. The tear-out, any new framing, plumbing, gas, electrical work inside those walls. Then you will see the quality of that work, and you can decide whether you need a general contractor or you can finish all the work. Be wise! ☺️
