The paint at the bottom of my wooden front door got washed off during a heavy downpour. What paint or varnish can I get to repaint it?

Splashed by rain water during downpour. How to repaint?

  • That does not look like paint to me. Looks like a wood stained door. Here is what I would do first. Wash the door thoroughly and degrease. Then see what it looks like. At that point you can go with a wood conditioner to make it look decent until you decide if you want to strip the door and re stain, or paint the door.

You could perhaps try painting your door with chalk paint. Chalk paint is very inexpensive and one small container goes a long way. I painted my home's front door in chalk paint and I love how it came out: http://momhomeguide.com/front-door-update-with-chalk-paint/

    Sand it down first

A quick fix is to clean the door well and buy some stain the same color as the door. Apply the stain to the entire door. You may need an extra coat for the bottom but it will alll blend in very well. Car wax will help to repel water. I’ve done this.... it works.
