I agree with Judy... and you can use a hammer to gently tap the end of the putty knife handle. Hold the knife at an angle so it can slide behind the tile as it loosens.
If your going to replace the wall board behind the tile then hammer away. If you want to save the wall use a flat chizzle with your hammer and carefully remove the tile in a left to right or right to left motion trying to scrape the tile as you go. It’s not a fun job unless you want to release some aggression relive tension then smash away. If you are putting up new tile you will need a smooth surface no bumps or hole in the backer board.

The only way is to chip it off.
Start at a grout line and get your putty knife behind the tile. Pry it off.
Wear safety goggles please.
Ceramic tile in the eye is a bad thing!
