How to prevent window panes from cracking in the cold?

The inside pane shattered one day when it was below freezing and a second pane cracked vertically. I'm told that I'd have to remove all the steel siding on the house that surrounds these windows in order to replace the entire window units. Can I replace only the interior panes?

Hi Sandy, YES you can just replace the glass itself if the frame is in decent shape. Do a search on google for a local glass company and have them come out and give you a quote.
The glass panel can be replaced not the whole window. I know Ace Hardware sells double pane glass panels and also install.
