What is the best way to remove old caulking around a garage door?

    Dan, a chisel, hammer and sandpaper will probably be needed to remove the caulk. But if you are removing it, most of it may be dried so much that it will fall out when you tap it with a chisel. The hammer is for knocking out stubborn pieces. And the sandpaper is for getting out smaller pieces in crevices and along edges. Fold to sandpaper in half to rub both sides of a small seam at one time. I hope you get the caulk out quickly. ☺️

    Caulk is usually very elastic. If you run a sharp utility blade along both edges of the caulking, then lift one edge of the caulking with the tip of the blade, you should be able to pull it out in large chunks.

  • Use a scraper and scrape it off.
