Begin by removing any dead leaves or flowers. Keeping the root system intact is very important. Then make a solution with one tablespoon of Epson Salt and a gallon of water. Stir and dissolve the E Salt. Pour this solution on the soil at the base of the plant. Then water the plant again. The extra water will the roots receive the E Salt quicker. This method will add enzymes back in to the soil. Plants thrive with this solution. You can repeat every 2 weeks. Good luck.

In what way is the plant damaged? Bugs, critters, disease of some sort, too little or too much water? A reason would help with suggestions.

Hi, If the damage is from squash borers, there is nothing you can do to save the plants. The borers are inside the stems on the leaves and they literally eat the plant to death. The best thing you can do for them is pull them up and burn them so the borers are killed and cannot overwinter in the soil and attack your squash next year. Next year, dust the plants as soon as they are transplanted in the garden {or as soon as they come up from seed in the garden} ; dust with Sevin (yes, that's spelled right) or with Eight, both are insecticides that are safe for people and animals, after every rain and use only a round soaker hose which is covered with straw to irrigate the plants so you don't wash the dust off. Good Luck!
