How to grow herbs in a North West window?

I went to the explore projects up at the top of the window and clicked on garden. That has a number of shelving ideas and hanging herb planters that may work for you. How big is the sill in the window? That kind of determines how you would go about planting your herbs. If it is deep enough, you could put the pots on the sill, if not you could use a hanging system to hang the pots or have hanging shelves to put the pots on. Whatever you do, make sure you have something in place to catch water drips from the pots or watering spills. If the herbs get real leggy, or not real green, you may have to supplement the light with a grow light.
