What was once a worn & tired kitchen got a makeover with some character! By using modern finishes but original midcentury accents, I now have a stunning kitchen!

The original kitchen had some great elements- that sink! that window! But it was a mismatch of styles.
The first step was to bust out all of that floor tile.
And then the chipped tile countertops and backsplash had to go!
I wanted some traditional elements like butcher block, but I wanted more durability! Would you believe that's NOT butcher block?! Be sure to check out my blog post for the details on the countertops!
The next step was installing some fun, modern hexagon tiles for the backsplash! It's subtle but makes a statement!
I wanted the floors to be neutral but with a pop, so the hexagon tile was the perfect choice!
I wanted to work with the floor print I already had, but I wanted to update the look. Keeping the original bases, I had new doors made with soft-close hinges. Up next was to add some FUN character!
Using a two tone method, the cabinets got a complete face lift! I opted to reuse the original hardware to keep some of the historic charm.
I just love the final product! There's still old charm in the kitchen, but I love the fresh updates!
