How do I start a flower bed ?

Hi! I just purchased a home recently and the front and back yard has so much potential. There’s pre-existing plants in the yard but I don’t know what’s what. I would like suggestions on what to plant, what to pull up, should I use mulch or rocks, etc. Thank you for any help you can provide.

Hi Angelia! Congrats on your recent home purchase! It would be really helpful to know what
zone, or state you live in to better advise on plant choices. As far as rocks or mulch, it’s a matter of personal preference. Mulch will need to be added yearly as it will break down and further enrich your soil. If you choose stone be sure to put an underlayment of landscaping fabric or the stones (over time) will sink into the ground. Hope this helps 😁
