I am embracing these challenges. After looking on Anthropologie Webb site I decided to make a mirror knock off, based on their starburst design.
Anthropology starburst mirror
I had a mirror that was used as a table decoration, also some cocktail sticks, kebab sticks, wooden lace bobbins, hot glue and fix it crystal sealent.
Some of the supplies
I started to lay the bobbins out before i stuck them on onto the mirror. I spaced them out , starting at the top, then the opposite, and on the quarter marks, like a clock face. Then equally between these doing opposites and filling in between. Between these I glued cocktail sticks.
I felt it needed some width.
So I decided I would use the kebab sticks.
Adding cocktail sticks
I added kebab sticks to the mirror after every four lace bobbins.
I had to cut the sticks down as these were too long, I kept the points pointing out as I felt this looked better.
I needed something to be able to hang the mirror.
So on the top of the sticks, i added a embroidery hoop.
I stuck this with hot melt glue and then used crystal fix it sealent around the edge to give it extra support.
Back view with hoop
I then attached some string to the hoop, so I could hang it up.
I was really pleased with this. I could have painted the sticks, but wanted the natural wood left.
Anthropology cost over £200. Mine £3.00. for a similar look. the

I feel the same way. Mind you I have to redo some of it, as my future son in law snapped some of the sticks carrying luggage upstairs, he felt awful. I just laughed it off.
