Gotta love a good challenge! A friend asked me to paint a piece of furniture for his bedroom. He gave me several pictures for inspiration, as well as pictures of the pieces he's already using in the room. The inspiration pieces were mostly made with raw, reclaimed wood, and each had a lot of texture.

I had quite the challenge to get this dark wood & brass piece transformed to something with the same feel as the inspiration pieces.
I gave the chest a base coat of Dixie Belle Paint. The color of paint doesn't matter because it won't show in the end. Then I added a coat of Bronze Patina Paint.
I painted a second coat of the Bronze Patina Paint and while it was wet, brushed on the blue Patina Spray. I worked in sections to make sure the paint was wet when I added the spray.
The Blue Spray reacted with the Bronze Paint to give a weathered wood look.
I changed the appearance of the hardware by simply going over it with a silver rub-n-buff.
The Patina Paint from the Dixie Belle Paint Company was the perfect solution to creating a dramatic transformation to a dark, dated piece.
