Hi Diane. I'm Cindy. Your'e right. Using a plastic water bottle will water your plants while you are away. Begin by putting a few pin holes in the bottom of a water bottle. Nestle it in the dirt in the pot. Fill the bottle with water. It will slowly drip water into the pot and water your plants. You can do the same thing with outdoor plants, but for large plants, use a gallon milk jug. Best of luck to you.

Some people fill 2 liter bottles with water and put the lids back on. Then drill a hole in the lid for water to drip out. Then place the bottle with lid deep in the soil so it will slowly leak water while you are gone. Water the soil well too. Hope this helps Diane.
