How to paint?

I've always preferred Rustoleum spray paint.

Hello, I use krylon spray paint on metal and it works very well. I imagine Rustoleum would too.

It depends on what kind of sprayer you'd use as to the kind of paint you'd need. I've added a link about the different types of sprayers as well as the types of paints that can be used. If you buy a sprayer, it should tell you what type of paint you'd need to use. If you think you're going to buy a sprayer, I'd suggest you google videos about the different types so you can see how easy/difficult the different types can be. Spray paint cans would be easiest if you don't plan to use a sprayer for much else. It will take a few cans, but it's super easy clean up when done, lol!

I would use Rustoleum for Metal in a spray can. Scuff up the bed lightly to make sure the paint will stick, wipe it all down with a damp cloth and then dry it. Do two or three even light coats, letting it dry between each coat. Then do a few light coats of Rustoleum finish coat , letting it dry between coats and you are done. I find it to be easier to control the spray with cans rather than a paint sprayer. Best wishes.

Hello Zha! When you say a metal bed, I'm assuming you mean the headboard? Is it in good condition?

When I spraypaint metal, I go to an auto supply store like Autozone. Talk to someone that knows automotive paint. Depending on the condition, you may have sand to prepare. Then prime and pick a gorgeous color from their color chart. You'll get a much harder finish on metal with less chipping. The biggest drawback is the cost of the paint. Automotive paint is more expensive, but for your project I probably will not break the bank! Good luck and come back with before and after pics!

First give your bed a thorough scrub with TSP (trisodium phosphate) soap and rinse well. You want spray Rustoleum for metal. Is it brass or iron? Brass may have a finish to keep it from tarnishing, so you may need to give it a light sanding to remove that first. If it's iron make sure there is absolutely no rust before painting. If you anticipate needing to do a lot of spray painting in the future, a paint sprayer may be a good investment. Otherwise, good old Rustoleum will work. If you get the paint sprayer, you will need to read the owners manual for answers to what kind of paint to buy. Do light coats and let it dry well.
