I have wallpaper that needs replacing. Is it possible to put thin drywall over the walls instead of pulling all of the wallpaper down?

I did just that you have to call around but they do sell a thin drywall I can’t recall if it was 1/4 or 3/8” but it worked beautifully to old walls

Unless the walls are especially old or damaged I think it would be far easier to just remove the wallpaper. After, if needed, you can patch & sand any holes or uneven spots with drywall mud.

If you don't mind pulling baseboards and trim off. Cutting for switches and outlets. Shimming them out for new thickness. Extending frames around windows and doors to hide drywall edges, Mudding and sanding. Replacing all baseboards and trim. There is 1/4" drywall available. A lot of work than removing the wallpaper.

Omg, I never realized having to remove all the trim and baseboards.

Yep! Also shimming out any switches and outlets. Extending door and window frames. Easier to remove the wallpaper and less work.
