Don't Toss That Old Cabinet Door Out Just Yet

We are in the middle of a kitchen remodel (more on that another day) and my husband was finished using the old cabinet doors as stencils for the custom cabinets he is making. He was about to toss the old cabinet doors in the trash. I asked him to hang onto a few for me. Looking skeptical he asked are you sure? I replied "yes, I don't know why yet, but I'll figure it out later," sure enough a few weeks passed and an inspiration appeared. I had my husband bring me one of the doors. Curious he asked what are you going to do with it, he knows by now he will eventually be involved somehow. It's going to hold keys!", I told my him.
These are some of the doors saved to use as stencils for our custom kitchen reno project, which may be shared at a later date
I sanded, primed and painted the door over two days. Once the paint dried my hubby screwed on the key holder. The hardest part was finding someone to make the lettering for me at a reasonable cost. I love how it turned out. Now what to do with all those other doors?

Did you have to sand the cabinet before priming it?

Cool idea. Lovely. Some people make serving trays out of old doors. Paint, stain, decoupage, etc. Add handles.

Thanks William. I have used a crusty old baking sheet as a serving tray, using one of the doors is a good idea too.
