Yes, you CAN, Adrienne! You can buy 4X8' sheets of beadboard paneling. They are pretty light to nail up. Then you can do some simple trim over the seams. It will look lovely! :)

Yes! You’ll want to plan out the spacing and centre it in your room. You might want to get them to cut the beadboard down at the store. If you cut it into 4x4’ sheets you can get it home easily - and squares would look lovely! Best of luck with it, Adrienne!

I agree, you should have no problem at all putting up the paneling on your ceiling. It would be much easier and quicker if you could use a second pair of hands. Perhaps offering a neighbor or friend a few drinks and a home cooked meal would get you some help.

I love the idea about extra hands unfortunately that is far and in between but hopefully a home cooked meal would help 😃🌺

Adrienne, I admire your can-do attitude! If you are considering boarding the ceiling, you have already determined that you can use a sturdy table or scaffolding to raise you high enough to reach board size areas. Since you will be up at the ceiling anyway, why don’t you either remove the popcorn ceiling with water and fabric softener, or at least sand the ceiling so your boards will fit evenly against the ceiling? Or use the ceiling itself, once you have exposed it? But you certainly can use the smooth boards if you use longer screws so they will go through the ceiling and lock. Just practice your tape and bedding skill before you try to do it overhead. Or get a helper. Best wishes ☺️

thank you for the great tip about the water and fabric softener. I also will practice on a bedroom ceiling before trying to tackle the high ceilings in the open area that covers living room dining room and kitchen.
