I can't move this to the trash room. I have no back yard to paint or any supplies to sand this. I am tempted to find a way to use it. I am so tired of junk collecting on the top. Help save my sanity. I have no idea what it is made of but the draws are already tossed out. Thank you.
It could look really great if you painted it and found pairs of baskets that would fit on each "shelf" where the drawers used to be. :)
This could be a book shelf, a what not shelf, if you're like me and love shoes, could hold shoes, handbags, could hold plates/ chargers..could be something to organize kid shoes or toys, wine organizer🤷
Get baskets or bins to slide in and out. You can line it with shelf liner paper on the sides and bottom, even the outside. If you decoupage, you could try that but it's a bit more complex of a makeover.
Shay, a pack of $3 sandpaper, a $20 quart of semi-gloss paint, a $5 plastic shower curtain to use as a floor protector, a $4 paint brush, and you have a wonderful piece for your home. You can store quilts or linens and baskets for tp in it in the hall, dishes and candles in the DR, magazines and baskets for remotes in the LR, or, if you have enough $$, get 6 baskets for the shelves and put it anywhere. It's a nice piece!
If you have space in your kitchen, sand it down and paint it, add a stencil design on top. Add some long legs, a side rack/bar for you kitchen towel. Add door to close the shelving area, but our short baskets or metal trays to pull out for storage.
I think I would clean it up, give it a coat of paint and find baskets to fit in the spaces.
If you can’t even hand sand it there is a product at Home Depot that you can apply before painting. It looks like you could just clean it with TSP or TSP Substitute though and then paint.
You can paint it with chalk paint and add baskets in the drawer spaces or neatly fold blankets/quilts and display them in the drawers.
I would paint this beauty and find baskets that fit the spaces, you will have a new gorgeous piece !
if you don’t want to sand and paint, you could carefully apply a paper covering with Modge Podge to the top. Touch up the sides and feet and remove one of the shelves. Put in baskets on the bigger space and decor items on the other.
Could also paint and use as a pet station, baskets for leashes, bags, etc. basket for pet supplies, perhaps if you have a cat on lower shelf a cat bed
