How do you build floor to ceiling shelves for a workshop?

    Measure and plan your space. Be sure about your shelf spacing before hand. Determine how deep you need your shelves to be. You should use a thickness of at least 1" to support the weight, possibly 1.5". I recommend putting a back on the shelves for stability so it would like similar to a built in. I did this method in the attic. In the garage, I used metal shelving brackets and screwed them directly into the walls. Unfortunately, I used the wrong type of boards (OSB) and they didn't stand the test of time. Once oil and other fluids saturated the a shelf, it disintegrated. Also, they will warp under the weight. I am in process of replacing them now.
