How do I get ALL of the roots?
I have a planter that was overgrown with flowers. I want an herb garden so I pulled out the flowers, sifted the dirt for roots etc and replaced over half the soil. 3 weeks later flowers are coming back. What can I use that wont be harmful to new plants?

Hello Diane,
It will be the dormant seeds suddenly seeing the light and waking up. Just remove them if not required.
Use roundup and wait 2 weeks to plant.
Just carefully remove the flowers and plant elsewhere. Only way to be absolutely certain is to completely replace all the soil. Be glad that the flowers came back, you obviously have a happy place! And you must have a green thumb! 🌞
I’m afraid you’ll just have to keep pulling the flowers out until you don’t have them any longer. The ones that were overgrown initially have dropped dozens of seeds in the planter. Short of removing your new herbs replacing all the soil and then replanting, I’m afraid you’re going to be pulling flowers for a while. Try to pull them as soon as you can see what you are pulling. Also, a thick mulch if straw mat assist in keeping the flowers from coming up.
