How to paint a concrete shower floor?

I have an old house with a concrete floor in the shower. I can't tile, and thought I would decorate with paint. However, it needs to stand up to water and can't be to slippery. Suggestions?

  • Stain it instead, the paint will eventually peel and look like a hot mess.

Try Slip Doctors Dura Grip for all surfaces. It comes in a variety of colors

Bul Hello, There are many colors you can paint it. Go to Home Depot's paint department, and ask what they have for your shower. It needs to hold up with the water it's going to get. Probably a cement paint that will hold up out doors.

Use deck paint. They make it in a 2 step epoxy, that if dried properly, stands up very well. There are better, that will stand up to fork lift traffic, but you need to know a lot to use it. Don't use latex floor paint for obvious reasons. Here is a link to my local Lowe's, yours will have the same. https://www.lowes.com/search?searchTerm=floor+paint

Try an outdoor concrete paint. They are made for this.

You will have some prep work to do on the concrete first so be sure to read the directions on the back closely.

Naomie is right, stain it, no paint will hold up to all of the cleaning products, soap, shampoo, etc that a shower gets.
