How do I make our coated concrete pool deck less slippery?

We used a concrete coating product on our pool area and then added two coats of sealer. Now it is very slippery. Stripping it all off is NOT an option. What can anyone suggest to dull or rough-up this surface?

Why not place the anti-slip pool ladder treads around like stepping stones? You can cut them into shapes like footprints, toadstools, seashells, or any other summer shape.

If you have a large area, have you thought about adding a grit to sealer and applying another coat? I have not tried this but you might want to try it on a small area and see how it works. I actually applied a tennis court paint to a cement slab area for just that reason. It worked great and held up very well.

A light sprinkle of sand might help. Mix with small amount of glue and water to help hold it in place.

An alternative method to create a non-slip surface, when applying a sealer/top coat - sprinkle fine grain rock salt onto the still wet coating. After the coating dries, hose off to dissolve the salt and the coating has the impression of the salt still in place for an anti-slip surface. I've used this on homemade swimming team diving blocks with a deck paint to a cost effective anti-slip surface. Test the grittyness of the rock salt on a test surface and your coating to determine the level of grit needed for your situation, always testing when the dried surface coating is water dampened to determine if the anti-slip method is working.
