I use straight white vinegar. If it works for cat urine, it should work for your dog urine smell in the carpet. I use a quart sprayer that I always have full of vinegar for many jobs. Spray it heavy enough that it will saturate down into the padding. It may take more than one time, but the ones you buy at the store usually do too. Once the vinegar dries and the vinegar odor is gone, give it a sniff test, It is always hard to get the whole area in one shot, so redo it where you smell it. As always, check an inconspicuous area of the carpet to make sure you won't alter the texture or color when it is dry. I hope this will help with the urine odor in your carpet, Alma!

If you are talking about a stain try spot shot- we have had great luck with it. Once dried blot area with white vinegar to remove all traces of odor/scent.

I use Natures Miracle. They carry it at Pet Smart.

First, get a black light flashlight (Amazon) for detecting pet stains (other stains, too). Check carpet when night (or dark) outline with painter's tape (blue) and then use Nature's Miracle (most pet stores and probably Amazon) - the one for urine specifically, follow directions. Even strong cat urine I have killed the odor of and removed the stain. It's why they call it Nature's "Miracle".
