How do I spruce up oak trim or add to it to make it look like wainsco?

I have 20 year old honey oak trim that I can’t afford to replace but I love the look of thick trim on top of windows and doors. I have lots of extra trim and am wondering if there is a way to use it

Corine, could you take the measurements and then "beef up" the existing trim by adding more trim above the doors and if you have enough do even more (windows). Thick molding is really a nice feature in homes, so you'd be adding value if done correctly. It probably wouldn't take much to adhere the new extra pieces by using finish nails and wood glue. Hope you'll share what you decide to do with Hometalk.

The trim can be added as Janice suggests. Ensure you have enough to complete the job before starting.
