Keep my bedroom cool in the heat??

I have put block out panels I made next to the world down glass. Then a pair of Block out panels. My condo HOA won't allow window vents, or swamp coolers. I'm on the 4th floor and my windows are all on the west facing side. Hot sun all day. I can't afford an electrician for a ceiling fan.

You will have to check with your HOA to see what you can install. How is the rest of your condo cooled? If central air could it be that your room vent is blocked or closed. Other than that a stand fan to circulate the air is all you have left.

Splurge for a Portable Air Conditioner, you need not put the dehumidifier hose out the window, you can put the hose in your tub or sink. Few HOA take offense to that, as it is not dripping on a neighbors Balcony or head. LOL.

Yes, of course, you do not need to add ice or water, but then you are dealing with a much higher electric bill too, when you do not buy one with a bucket that you pack with ice.

In my opinion, putting a block of ice into the built-in water bucket to secure that it is blasting out colder air than normal with a $160 electric bill, is alot better than a $300 electric bill.

      This I say because:

      A. Your Freezer is always going anyhow, you may as well toss in a Pint container of water each 4 hours to freeze it, and put that Block of ice into the Bucket of the AC.

      B. There are many off the wall inline DIYs on how to make an AC out of a Cooler and a Fan, some PVC, and a Funnel.

Doing B is moot if you already purchased a portable AC with a Bucket, as, rather than pack ice in the Cooler, you pack ice in the AC Bucket.

Believe it or not when it’s hot keep the windows closed the heat will stay out and it will be cooler in the house

Air conditioning is WAY WAY better Kathy. Put it on when you go grocery shopping And return to a State of Being Nearly like you would expect from Ice Cube Stalagmites hanging off your ceiling. In San Diego where she is from, Air Conditioning is a Must, not a Luxury but Survival and for Food. I lived in Sacramento, it was torture, not kidding: my eggs got overdone, and my cold cereal was warm in a minute or less. So, trust me I know this woman needs an AC that can accept added Ice for those 108° days or she will smell like a Texan or Slightly better than a Kimodo Dragon who was walking the desert for a week.

Hi. I have used portable fans. It get to be 85 degrees n the room even with the double blocking, light blocking curtains. I looked at portable ac"s and most need to pump water out. Most have a humidifier as part of the unit. If I can put the hose n my bathroom drains. That would help. Also have high humidity going. I live in San Diego. 10 miles from the ocean it does get real hot a few times a year. The ocean water has been 80 degrees. Yes I checked the HOA rules. Nothing iut the window or in. So no sempre cooler.

My ac is over 36 years.it's central heating and air. Too inefficient , and the electricity bill goes through the ceiling. Even with the scarce time I turn it on. can't afford to use it, or buy a new one. If I can cool one room with a portable unit. I can move it to another room. It's a small 2 bedroom. One floor condo
